Playing Around

It's been a tough school year work-wise and, now that I've finished testing and there are only 9 more "kid days" of school left, I'm starting to relax a bit.  De-stressing and catching up on rest makes a difference in reawakening the creativity, which seems to hibernate at times.  So...  I started working on two pillow covers.

I was intrigued by the diagonal quilting on the table runner I made for my daughter and wanted to try it for a pillow.... and I like it.

I still like traditional patterns and enlarged this Barrister's Block to 20" to make a large pillow cover.   The quilting pattern just came to me out of nowhere...

Once I had it clear in my ole brain, the quilting was easy... just had to pay attention and go slowly.

Monday, a friend and I are going on a road trip to JoAnn's to stock up on stuff we're out of.  For me, it's batting, thread, and a couple of 22-24" zippers to finish up these pillow covers.   The excursion will include lots of catching up and lunch out!

Wishing you all a lovely Memorial Day!

Mothers Day 2014

I will be spending Sunday with my dear daughter, her DH (also known as my favorite son-in-law), and my two granddaughters.  Today, I made a little something for my daughter's dining room table as a "thank you" for being such a good mother to the girls.

I've been making seasonal runners for her but she doesn't have a late spring/summer one... so we fixed that!

Doesn't really go with my stuff but it will look lovely on her table.

...Mother taught me how to sew and let me use her Singer.  She was a brave woman...

These roses grew in my mother's yard and died back to just a sprig.  I rescued that sprig and transplanted it in my backyard where I can watch over it.  It's blooming just in time for Mothers Day.
